The Painted Hills

Well this is really a test of the blog on my website. I have redesigned my unused PDJ Academy into a blog, gallery, and sales site while keeping some of the “Academy.” I’ll have photo tips posted monthly along with some offerings on online lessons. Our sales site is powered by Fine Art America providing a secure and safe transaction protecting your private information.

I haven’t been getting out but recently Odee and I took a trip and had a run-in with the rain. I’m not complaining, we need the rain here in Oregon. We did get a chance to hike on some trails in the Painted Hills. Where I was there three years ago I got some dramatic photographs so this time I decided to take some different views. Unfortunately the trip didn’t go as well as I had planned and hoped. First off the replacement battery for my solar generator didn’t arrive in time for the trip, even though I ordered it early enough. So I could only generate power during the day but not store any. Then a late spring cold front and storm system came in with days of rain.

We had two beautiful days and one good night and a second soaked night. With the logistics of getting Odee in and out of the back of the truck in the rain and the outlook for the next couple of days and the decision to head back was made. I did enjoy seeing the Columbia River Gorge for the first time since we took Interstates 84 and 5 home. Odee and I will be heading out again soon.
